Can I live with friends, or can you match me with roommates?

You can select your roommate(s), or you can apply on your own and we can match you with other students. Applicants answer a short list of lifestyle questions to help in the matching process.

What are per-person contracts?

Instead of requiring all roommates to sign a joint lease, each person at Copper Beech Mount Pleasant has their own individual contract, with one person per bedroom. This means you are only responsible for paying for yourself — not your roommates. Even if a roommate moves out or other bedrooms in your apartment are empty, you only pay the rate for your bedroom.

What is included in the rate?

Each resident at Copper Beech pays a flat rate that includes:

  • Furnishings (optional for an additional charge)
  • High-speed internet
  • Water/sewer
  • Natural gas
  • Trash disposal
  • In-unit laundry
  • Community features – swimming pool, fitness center, etc.

What size are the apartments?

The spacious accommodations at Copper Beech are available in 1, 2, 3 and 4 apartments and townhomes, with a private bedroom-bathroom suite for each resident. The 2, 3 and 4 bedroom floorplans are multi-story townhomes with an extra half-bath for guests.

Are the apartments furnished?

Copper Beech Mount Pleasant offers an optional furniture package for an additional cost. The furniture package includes a full-size bed, desk and chair, nightstand and dresser in each bedroom, the living room includes a sofa, coffee table, end table and entertainment stand, plus barstools for the kitchen.

When do the contracts start and end?

The standard term is August 20, 2023 to July 28, 2024, with payments made in 12 equal installments. Limited alternate dates are available; please inquire with our staff. Click here for a sample agreement.

Is a co-signer or financial guaranty required?

Each resident must pay an administrative fee within 7 days after signing the Housing Agreement. This fee is reduced significantly if the resident provides a qualifying guarantor (often a parent) for their financial obligations under Housing Agreement.

Can I pay by credit card?

Yes. Residents can pay online 24 hours per day, by credit card or ACH electronic checking. Copper Beech also offers automatic payment by either credit card or checking account — just fill out one page, one time and payments will be made automatically. Convenience fees apply for credit card and debit card payments.

Will my financial aid cover charges at Copper Beech?

Your living costs at Copper Beech can be covered by financial aid, just like on-campus housing. Any available financial aid funds, after university charges are satisfied, are released to the student for non-institutional expenses, such as off-campus housing. These funds can be used to pay charges at Copper Beech. Normal payment deadlines will continue to apply.

Is Copper Beech Mount Pleasant open to non-students?

Nearly all the residents at Copper Beech are students at Central Michigan University. The per-person contracts are also designed with students in mind. Nonetheless, Copper Beech is an Equal Opportunity housing provider and welcomes applications from non-students. Family members are welcome as well, subject to occupancy limits. Because of the need to match student roommates, non-students must apply together with enough roommates to fill the desired residence.

What kind of safety and security are provided?

Copper Beech has a monitored fire-sprinkler system. Management staff are available 24×7 and can be reached by a 24-hour phone number.

What are the policies on pets, smoking and guests?

Copper Beech is a pet-friendly community, subject to limits on animals and breeds. The community is smoke-free in all indoor and adjacent spaces. Guests are welcome at all times, subject to the consent of apartment-mates and security considerations. Overnight guests are welcome, with limits on the number of days and guests.
